Here comes February! It’s one of our favorite months since it is National Children’s Dental Health Month! Whoohoo!
One of our favorite days is also coming: GIVE KIDS A SMILE DAY on February 7
Without fail, our team takes part in Give Kids a Smile Day every year since we opened. It is a day for dentists across the country and their communities to provide dental services to underserved children. The American Dental Association estimates that this special event helps about 450,000 U.S. children every year with the loving assistance of more than 40,000 volunteers.
Give Kids a Smile Day is important because close to one in four children have untreated cavities in their baby teeth (U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Children from low income families have an especially hard time getting regular preventative care and treatment of cavities, even with Medicaid coverage. Give Kids A Smile Day events provide free, easily accessible dental services to local, qualifying children making it easier to for those children to love their smile and know that their community loves it, too.
The ADA has a goal to eliminate cavities in all U.S. five-year-olds by 2020. We’re proud to help meet that goal! If you want to know more about how to get care for your child, or to donate or volunteer, please call our office!
